Taxonomy
Aviculopecten columbianus was named by Hoare et al. (1978). Its type specimen is OSU 27271, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Cp-3. Abandoned Brookwood mine, which is in a Desmoinesian carbonate limestone in the Allegheny Formation of Ohio.
