Paracrocodylomorpha was named by Parrish (1993). It is extant. It was considered monophyletic by Nesbitt (2011).

It was assigned to Rauisuchia by Parrish (1993); and to Suchia by Weinbaum and Hungerbühler (2007) and Nesbitt (2011).
