Taxonomy
Bellerophon micromphalus was named by Morris (1845). It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Goniatites micromphalus by Etheridge (1880) and Foord (1890); it was recombined as Goniatites (Prolecanites) micromphalus by Etheridge (1894); it was recombined as Agathiceras micromphalus by Laseron (1910); it was recombined as Warthia micromphala by Waterhouse (1963), Waterhouse (1983) and Waterhouse (1987).
