Hainina pyrenaica

Taxonomy
Hainina pyrenaica was named by Peláez-Campomanes et al. (2000). Its type specimen is DPUCM FTN3-1, a tooth (M1 sup. sin.), and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Fontllonga 3, which is in a Danian estuary/bay marl/siltstone in the Tremp Formation of Spain.

P. Peláez-Campomanes et al. 2000A small Hainina species with P4 having three labial cusp, a simple M1 with cusp formula 3:4:4 and m1 with cusp formula 3:3. Hainina n. sp. differs from H. belgica in its more complex P4 with three external cusps instead of one, a wider and more simple M1 with four cusps instead of seven in the internal row whcih is also shorter, and a longer m1. Hainina pyrenaica n. sp. differs from H. godfriauxi in its smaller size. In differs from Hainina vianeyae n. sp. from Cernay in having a better developed posterior labial cusp on P4 and by its much smaller size.
