Taxonomy
Desmostroma mongolica was named by Bolshakova and Ulitina (1985). It is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Shovdol Obo Mountains, Baruun-Urt, Eastern Gobi, Baruun-Urt Formation, which is in a Wenlock perireef or subreef limestone in the Baruun-Urt Formation of Mongolia.
