Taxonomy
Coenites sharaobensis was named by Sharkova (1981). It is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Shara-Obo Mountains, Baruun-Urt, Eastern Gobi, which is in an Emsian reef, buildup or bioherm limestone in the Shargynul Formation of Mongolia.
