Pecten solaroides was named by Heilprin (1887). It is not a trace fossil.
It was recombined as Pecten (Plagioctenium) eboreus solaroides by Dall (1898); it was recombined as Chlamys (Plagioctenium) solaroides by Olsson and Harbison (1953) and DuBar (1958); it was recombined as Argopecten eboreus solaroides by Gibson (1987); it was recombined as Carolinapecten solaroides by Petuch (2004).
