Taxonomy
Strombina cyphonotus was named by Pilsbry and Johnson (1911) [DISTRIBUTION: Miocene-Pliocene; Caribbean. COMMENTS: Lectotype used as type specimen and for dimensions.]. Its type specimen is ANSP 3293, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Strombina (Strombina) cyphonotus by Jung (1989).
