Semiactaeon was named by Cossmann (1889) [Sepkoski's age data: T Eo-l T Mi Sepkoski's reference number: 914]. Its type is Tornatella sphaericula.

It was assigned to Acteonidae by Garvie (1996); and to Cephalaspida by Sepkoski (2002).

Shell umbilicated, inflated; protoconch obtuse and mammilate; aperture endre, rounded; outer lip sharp; with an obsolete callus pad; columella straight, a weak fold in the middle, terminated anteriorly at the base.
