Taxonomy
Kyphophyllum greggi was named by Merriam (1972). Its type specimen is USNM 159461 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is USGS loc. M80, Gregg Ranch area, Klamath Mountains, which is in a Ludlow/Pridoli reef, buildup or bioherm conglomerate in the Gazelle Formation of California.
