Marginella lavelleana was named by d'Orbigny (1842) [DISTRIBUTION: Miocene-Recent; circum-Caribbean, Florida.]. It is extant.

It was recombined as Persicula lavelleana by Olsson and McGinty (1958); it was recombined as Persicula (Gibberula) lavelleana by Weisbord (1962).
