Taxonomy
Microdictyon sphaeroides was named by Hinz (1987). Its type specimen is UB 3, an other, and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Jee's Quarry, Nuneaton, which is in a Tommotian carbonate limestone in the Hartshill Formation of the United Kingdom.
