Taxonomy
Nautilus ulrichi was named by White (1882) [DISTRIBUTION: Early Eocene; Mexico, Gulf Coastal Plain..]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Hercoglossa (Enclimatoceras) ulrichi by Grabau and Shimer (1910); it was recombined as Enclimatoceras ulrichi by Deussen (1914), Deussen (1924), Gardner (1926) and Semmes (1929); it was recombined as Hercoglossa ulrichi by Douvillé (1929), Miller and Thompson (1933), Gardner (1933), Pijpers (1933), Stenzel (1940), Stenzel (1942), Shimer and Shrock (1944), Miller (1947), Toulmin (1977) and Perrilliat et al. (2006).
