Taxonomy
Cowiella verrucata was named by Hinz (1987). Its type specimen is UB 44, an other, and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Rushton, which is in an Atdabanian carbonate limestone in the Lower Comley Formation of the United Kingdom.
