Ranella nitida was named by Broderip (1833) [DISTRIBUTION: Pliocene-Recent; Venezuela-Ecuador. COMMENTS: Type specimen and dimensions bsed on syntype 1/3]. It is extant. Its type specimen is BMNH 1966648/1, a shell.
