Taxonomy
Cricetodon jumaensis was named by Rummel (2001). Its type specimen is SMF 2000/254, a tooth (M1 sup. dext.), and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Petersbuch 18, which is in a MN 7 + 8 fissure fill horizon in Germany.

M. Rummel 2001 | Großer Vertreter der Gattung Cricetodon. Die Quergrate der unteren Molaren sind überwiegend kurz ausgebildet. Meistens ist am m1 neben dem Metalophulid I auch ein Metalophulid II ausgebildet. Der Anteroconus des M1 ist massig und gespalten. Der Anterolophulus verbindet sich mit dem lingualen Anteroconus-Höcker. Ein lingualer Quersporn ist häufig vorhanden. Die Postectolophe sind am M1 kurz und beim M2 and M3 halblang ausgebildet. Der M3 ist im posterioren Bereich nicht in der Breite reduziert, der Posteroloph ist halblang. Es tritt vereinzelt eine Dreiwurzeligkeit der m2 auf. |
