Turritella concava was named by Say (1827) [DISTRIBUTION: Early Pliocene-Recent; New Jersey-Brasil.]. It is extant.
It was recombined as Acus concavus by Dall (1889); it was recombined as Terebra concava by Dall (1890), Abbott (1954), Abbott (1954), Richards (1962) and Spencer and Campbell (1987); it was recombined as Terebra (Strioterebrum) concava by Gardner (1948) and Olsson and Harbison (1953); it was recombined as Strioterebrum concava by Hendy et al. (2008).
