Cancellaria bifoliata was named by Aldrich (1903) [DISTRIBUTION: Middle Miocene; Florida.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Olssonella bifoliata by Petit (1970); it was recombined as Axelella bifoliata by Petit (1988).
