Axelella desmotis
Taxonomy
Cancellaria desmotis was named by Gardner (1937) [DISTRIBUTION: Early Miocene; Florida.]. It is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is USGS Loc. 2213 - Baileys Ferry, which is in a Burdigalian marine marl/sandstone in the Chipola Formation of Florida.
It was recombined as Olssonella desmotis by Petit (1970); it was recombined as Axelella desmotis by Petit (1988) and Landau et al. (2012).
