Trochosmilia inflexa was named by Reuss (1854). It is not extant.

It was recombined as Ellipsosmilia inflexa by Löser (2000); it was recombined as Rennensismilia inflexa by Baron-Szabo (1999), Baron-Szabo (2002), Baron-Szabo (2002), Baron-Szabo (2002) and Pandey et al. (2007).
