Astraea cribraria was named by Michelin (1840). It is not extant.

It was recombined as Phyllocoenia cribraria by d'Orbigny (1850) and Baron-Szabo (2002); it was recombined as Heliastrea cribraria by Milne-Edwards (1857); it was recombined as Orbicella cribraria by Felix (1914); it was recombined as Phyllocoeniopsis cribraria by Chevalier (1954); it was recombined as Montastrea cribraria by Baron-Szabo (2009).
