Diadectes molaris was named by Cope (1878). It is not a trace fossil.
It was recombined as Empedocles molaris by Cope (1880) and Cope (1881); it was recombined as Empedias molaris by Hay (1902) and Perrier (1928); it was synonymized subjectively with Diadectes sideropelicus by Kissel (2010).
