Taxonomy
Oncochilus peruvianus was named by Haas (1953). Its type specimen is AMNH 27187, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Cerro de Pasco area, Shelby, loc. 70, which is in a Rhaetian marine limestone in Peru.
