Fusus mohrioides was named by Maury (1912) [DISTRIBUTION: ?Paleocene-Eocene; Caribbean.]. Its type specimen is PRI (unknown number), a partial skeleton, and it is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Fusinus mohrioides by Snyder (2003).
