Glycymeris (Axinea) viamediae was named by Maury (1912) [DISTRIBUTION: ?Paleocene or Eocene; Caribbean.]. Its type specimen is PRI (unknown number), a shell, and it is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Axinaea viamediae by Hendy et al. (2008).
