Multiptyxis was named by Pchelintsev (1953) [Sepkoski's age data: K Sn Sepkoski's reference number: 1066].

It was assigned to Nerinellidae by Buitrón-Sánchez and López-Tinajero (1995); and to Heterostrophia by Sepkoski (2002).
