R. E. Weems 2023 | Vlachos (2018) felt that the holotype nuchal described by Hay (1908) was insufficient to erect a new species of Pleistocene Pseudemys, but the Late Miocene age of this material and the fact that the material of its junior synonym Chrysemys carri includes a nearly complete carapace and plastron together provide ample evidence that this is a valid taxon. |
