Taxonomy
Epitonium jacobi was named by Palmer (1937) [DISTRIBUTION: Middle Eocene; Gulf Coastal Plain.]. Its type specimen is PRI 2750, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Aciculiscala jacobi by Palmer and Brann (1966).
