Pecten actinodes was named by Sowerby (1846) [DISTRIBUTION: Late Miocene; Argentina. COMMENTS: Type specimen based on lectotype.]. Its type specimen is NHM-L27960, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil.
It was recombined as Chlamys actinodes by del Rio (1992); it was recombined as Zygochlamys actinodes by Griffin and Nielsen (2008).
