Venus coquandi was named by Hupé (1854) [DISTRIBUTION: Miocene; Chile.]. Its type specimen is MNHN-Gg2002/81, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil.
It was recombined as Ameghinomya coquandi by Griffin and Nielsen (2008).
