Taxonomy
Macron vermeiji was named by Nielsen and Frassinetti (2003) [DISTRIBUTION: Miocene; Chile.]. Its type specimen is SGO.PI 5988, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is SGOPI loc. 031282, 1 km north of Matanzas, Cardenal Caro Province, which is in a Tortonian foreshore sandstone in the Navidad Formation of Chile.
