Pseudomalaxis was named by Fischer (1850) [Sepkoski's age data: K Coni R]. It is extant.

It was assigned to Heterostrophia by Sepkoski (2002); and to Architectonicidae by Sohl (1960), Buonaiuto (1975), Adegoke (1977), Ladd (1982), Todd (2001) and Wienrich and Janssen (2007).
