Cytherea trigonula was named by Deshayes (1825) [DISTRIBUTION: Eocene; western Europe.]. It is not a trace fossil.
It was recombined as Meretrix trigonula by Burton (1933); it was recombined as Sunetta trigonula by Morellet and Morellet (1944); it was recombined as Meroena trigonula by Le Renard and Pacaud (1995).
