Taxonomy
Strombus granulatus was named by Swainson (1822) [DISTRIBUTION: Pliocene-Recent; Caribbean]. It is extant. It is the type species of Persististrombus.

It was recombined as Strombus (Lentigo) granulatus by Jung and Heitz (2001); it was recombined as Persististrombus granulatus by Kronenberg and Lee (2007), Harzhauser et al. (2009) and Landau and Marques da Silva (2010).
