Mourlonia subaequilatera was named by Chapman (1916). It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Stenoloron (Stenoloron) subaequitera by Frýda (2000); it was recombined as Stenoloron subaequilatera by Tassell (1976), Blodgett and Johnson (1992) and Wagner (2023).
