Cyrena compressa was named by Deshayes and Milne-Edwards (1835) [DISTRIBUTION: Eocene; western Europe.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Polymesoda compressa by Tracey et al (1995); it was recombined as Polymesoda (Geloina) compressa by Le Renard and Pacaud (1995).
