Voluta goldfussi was named by Deshayes (1865) [DISTRIBUTION: Eocene; western Europe.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Volutilithes goldfussi by Morellet and Morellet (1945); it was recombined as Lyria goldfussi by Pacaud and Le Renard (1995).
