Taxonomy
Voluta elevata was named by Sowerby (1840) [DISTRIBUTION: Eocene; western Europe.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Athleta (Volutospina) elevata by Traub (1938); it was recombined as Athleta elevata by Paramonovaya and Amitrov (1981); it was recombined as Athleta elevatus by Piccoli and Savazzi (1983); it was recombined as Volutocorbis elevata by Pacaud and Le Renard (1995) and Jeffery and Tracey (1997).
