Taxonomy
Voluta harpula was named by Lamarck (1802) [DISTRIBUTION: Eocene; western Europe.]. It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Grignon (Lamarck collection), which is in a Lutetian open shallow subtidal sandstone/sandstone in France.
It was recombined as Lyria harpula by Tracey et al. (1995); it was recombined as Lyria (Harpella) harpula by Pacaud and Le Renard (1995).
