Turritella sulcata was named by Lamarck (1804) [DISTRIBUTION: Eocene; western Europe.]. It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Mesalia sulcata by Cossmann (1888); it was recombined as Sigmesalia sulcata by Glibert (1962).
