Turritella solida was named by Deshayes (1861) [DISTRIBUTION: Eocene; western Europe.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Mesalia solida by Cossmann and Pissarro (1904) and Cossmann and Pissarro (1904); it was recombined as Sigmesalia solida by Pacaud and Le Renard (1995).
