Aturoidea paucifex

Taxonomy
Aturia pancifex was named by Cope (1866) [DISTRIBUTION: Paleocene; Gulf Coastal Plain.]. Its type specimen is ANSP 13133, a shell, and it is a mold. Its type locality is Heritage Pit, north of Glassboro, which is in a Danian offshore sandstone in the Hornerstown Formation of New Jersey.

It was recombined as Hercoglossa paucifex by Conrad (1868) and Cooke and Stephenson (1928); it was recombined as Paraturia paucifex by Spath (1927); it was recombined as Aturoidea paucifex by Vredenburg (1928) and Miller and Thompson (1935).
