Pleurotoma semicolon was named by Sowerby (1816) [DISTRIBUTION: Eocene; western Europe.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Crassispira semicolon by Tracey et al (1995); it was recombined as Crassispira (Crassispira) semicolon by Pacaud and Le Renard (1995).
