Taxonomy
Pleurotoma terebralis was named by Lamarck (1804) [DISTRIBUTION: Eocene; western Europe.]. It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Grignon (Defrance collection), which is in a Lutetian open shallow subtidal sandstone/sandstone in France.

It was recombined as Surcula (Ancistrosyrinx) terebralis by Traub (1938); it was recombined as Cochlespira terebralis by King and King (1976); it was recombined as Ancistrosyrinx terebralis by Pacaud and Le Renard (1995).
