(2008), monophyletic by Fröbisch and Reisz (2008) and Schoch (2013) and Schoch (2019).

It was assigned to Microsauria by Moodie (1912) and Moodie (1916); to Phyllospondyli by Kuhn (1946); to Dissorophoidea by Anderson et al. (2008), Fröbisch and Reisz (2008) and Anderson et al. (2008); to Dissorophoidea by Damiani and Rubidge (2003), Schoch and Rubidge (2005), Bourget and Anderson (2011) and Schoch (2013); to Xerodromes by Schoch and Milner (2014); and to Amphibamiformes by Schoch (2019) and Schoch et al.
