Pecten solea was named by Deshayes (1824) [DISTRIBUTION: Eocene; western Europe.]. It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Chlamys (Chlamys) solea by Meszaros (1957); it was recombined as Pseudamussium solea by Piccoli and Savazzi (1983); it was recombined as Palliolum solea by Pacaud and Le Renard (1995); it was recombined as Chlamys solea by Okan and Hosgor (2009).
