Aturia (Brazaturia) garretti was named by Stenzel (1940) [DISTRIBUTION: Middle Eocene; Gulf Coastal Plain.]. Its type specimen is LSU 2001, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil.
It was recombined as Aturia garretti by Miller (1947) and Palmer and Brann (1965).
