Ophiacodon retroversus

Taxonomy
Theropleura retroversa was named by Cope (1878). Its type specimen is AMNH 4155 (formerly 1111), a partial skeleton (postcrania only), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Mount Barry, 12 (Admiral Formation), which is in an Artinskian terrestrial shale in the Admiral Formation of Texas. It is the type species of Theropleura.

It was recombined as Ophiacodon retroversus by Romer and Price (1940) and Reisz (1986).
