Taxonomy
Protoclepsydrops haplous was named by Carroll (1964). Its type specimen is RM 3166, a partial skeleton (completely disarticulated), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Coal Mine Point; Divison 4, Section XV, coal-group 15, which is in a Westphalian A mire/swamp sandstone/coal in the Joggins Formation of Canada.
