Taxonomy
Mytilus squamosus was named by Sowerby (1829). It is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Ferry Bridge (Sedgwick collection), which is in a Wuchiapingian carbonate limestone in the United Kingdom.
It was recombined as Liebea squamosa by Waagen (1881), Newell (1955), Logan (1967), Pattison (1970), Muromtseva and Guskov (1984) and Lu (1986).
